Epoxy/Copper Oxide Composite Coating for Marine Application

This research investigated the usage of cuprous oxide powder as filler for epoxy in marine coating industries. The basic formulation consist powder, pre-polymer, and curing agent. main manipulation variable this is quantity added into resin, which varies from 2, 5, 7, 9, 11 per hundred gram resin (phr). Polyether (amine) was used agent at equivalent molar ratio. Mechanical stirring to achieve dispersion. samples were cured room temperature one week before characterization. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electron microscopy (SEM), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), drop shape, water brine absorption, hardness, abrasion analysis used. Drop shape exhibited hydrophobicity surfaces. According absorption test that carried out, it found unmodified sample has lowest brine. composite coating, underwent test, increasing surface directed on electrical wave generator 5 days.
